Brooks Preston, Chair

Overseas Private Investment Corporation

Brooks Preston’s work is focused on generating commercial returns at the convergence of private capital and sustainability. He was appointed Head of Investment Funds of OPIC’s Investment Funds Department (IFD) in May 2014 and sits on OPIC’s Investment Committee.  Brooks has been investing in renewable energy in emerging markets since 2005. He believes private equity is a critical tool for addressing some of the biggest challenges of the developing world, from poverty to food insecurity to high unemployment and overall lack of opportunity. 

Ruth Ben-Ghiat

New York University

Ruth Ben-Ghiat is Professor of History and Italian Studies at New York University and a political commentator and cultural critic who has received Guggenheim, Fulbright, and other fellowships. She has extensive experience in academic administration, with expertise in program building, globalization, and how institutions can address declining humanities enrollments. Her activities as a public intellectual reflect her conviction that the humanities have a vital importance today and that historical and critical thinking can help us to decipher our troubled times.

Glenn Erikson

The Integral Companies

Glenn Erikson, PhD, AIA is President of the Integral companies where he owns and manages 300,000 SF of buildings and is an architect, consultant, teacher, writer and developer. Erikson’s design and development teams that have received multiple design awards, and his work has been featured in Architectural Record, Progressive Architecture, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and several books. He has designed and developed as a general partner 30 commercial, residential and mixed use development projects, and has designed, built and leased more than 2.5MM square feet of development projects.

Oliver Niedermaier

Oliver Niedermaier is the founder of TAU and serves as Chairman & CEO. He also chairs the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to launching TAU, Oliver served as an Operating Partner at Advent International, a global private equity firm with over $32B assets under management, where he co-invested in Equiniti and served as a non-executive director from buyout in 2007 to IPO in 2015. Oliver was appointed a Young Global Leader (YGL) of the World Economic Forum in 2010, and continues to be an active member of the community.

Julia Rhee is Director of Marketing and Investor Relations at Santé Ventures and a co-founder of Music Traveler, a sharing platform that helps musicians find and book practice and recording spaces. Her prior experience focused on institutional distribution across multiple investment areas. Julia is also the founder of the Chief Investment Officer Summit®, an alternative investment conference series. 

George Sampas

Sullivan & Cromwell

George Sampas is the co-head of S&C’s Private Equity Group. He has used his knowledge of various takeover regimes and global practices to develop unique solutions for clients around the world. His practice has emphasized cross-border transactions, unsolicited U.S. and non-U.S. acquisitions and private equity transactions. Sampas is one of the most high profile attorneys in the US.
